Making a decision about divorce

Some California couples may be struggling with whether or not to end their marriages. There are a number of factors to consider. For example, divorce can be devastating financially. In some cases, couples may make an effort to work things out to preserve their standard of living. Children may be another reason to decide against divorce, but only if parents are able to repair their relationship so that they present a healthy model.

Maintaining parental rights after a divorce

It has become increasingly common for Colorado divorce courts to award parents joint legal custody of their children. In theory this allows both parents to have input into certain major decisions affecting their children, such as education and health care. However, this doesn't always turn out that way, especially when one parent has primary physical custody and a parenting plan has been adopted.

Business owners may want a prenup

Starting a business is a major undertaking, and the last thing Colorado entrepreneurs likely to not want to do is to lose a major portion of their interests in it during a divorce. Those who are single but are in a relationship that may lead to marriage down the road may want to consider a prenuptial agreement in order to remain in control in the event of a future divorce.
